Five students of the Forestry Study Program of the USU Faculty of Forestry participated in the selection of the National Olympiad of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Higher Education (ONMIPA-PT) at the USU level on February 20–21, 2024. The five students will compete with 146 other students from all faculties at USU. Students who pass the USU-level selection will be sent to the national-level ONMIPA competition.

The five students are Mhd Daffa Pasaribu (221201094), Miduk Sitanggang (2212010520), Muhammad Nabil Al Faqih (221201153), Syofian Yakub (2212010460), and Arjuman Pasaribu (221201174). The five students come from the Undergraduate Forestry Study Program class of 2022 and have a track record of excellent achievement indexes.
ONMIPA is one of the higher education talent events that aims to develop student creativity and innovation in the fields of Mathematics and Science. Students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and other faculties can participate in this activity.
The USU-level ONMIPA selection in 2024 was organized by the Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations. The event was attended by Vice Chancellor I of USU, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., Chairperson of the USU ONMIPA Selection Committee, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations of USU, Vice Dean I of the faculty throughout USU, and students participating in the selection.
Vice Dean I of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Ir. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad hopes that Faculty of Forestry students who take part in the USU level ONMIPA selection can compete and qualify so that they can follow higher competencies at the national level. Although not a Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Forestry students also have competencies and abilities that can be seeded in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, especially biology.
