The odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year has ended, and the campus community is now entering a new semester, the Even Semester 2023/2024. For Forestry students of the 2021 cohort, this semester is highly anticipated as they step into their sixth semester. During this semester, all students have the opportunity to choose academic advisors to guide them through their research and thesis completion.

On March 7, 2024, an interactive academic discussion called BADAK (Bincang Akademik dan Kemahasiswaan) was held between students, lecturers, and laboratory representatives. This event aimed to provide guidance and explanations regarding each lecturer's area of expertise, which is highly beneficial for helping students align their interests, abilities, and preferences in selecting academic advisors.
The event was opened by the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto, S.Hut., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng. In his opening remarks, he expressed great enthusiasm for the upcoming advisor selection process. He hoped that students would choose their advisors wisely, based on their abilities and interests.

The event was also attended by the Vice Dean 1 of the Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si., and the Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Forestry, Dr. Evalina Herawati, S.Hut., M.Si. Several lecturers representing various areas of interest were present as speakers, including Silviculture (BDH), Forest Product Technology (THH), Forest Management (MNH), and Forest Resource Conservation (KSH). These lecturers were Dr. Deni Elfiati, S.P., M.P., Dr. Ir. Luthfi Hakim, S.Hut., M.Si., Dr. Anita Zaitunah, S.Hut., M.Sc., and Ridahati Rambey, S.Hut., M.Si.
The 2021 cohort students filled the room and enthusiastically participated in the event.
