FORESTRY PR — The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized the Socialization of Forest Youthverse and the Forestry Generation Showcase as an effort to strengthen the role of young people in responding to the challenges of the climate crisis and sustainable forest management. This activity served as a collaborative space for students to present innovations, ideas, and concrete actions in the fields of forestry and the environment.

The Dean of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Prof. Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., emphasized that universities have a strategic role in preparing adaptive, creative, and solution-oriented forestry human resources. According to him, students are not only required to understand forestry issues conceptually but are also expected to translate knowledge into concrete actions that have a broad impact on society and the environment.
“Through the Forest Youthverse program, we encourage the young forestry generation to be part of the solution. Knowledge gained in the classroom must be realized in concrete actions that address forestry and environmental issues,” he stated.
Through Forest Youthverse, the USU Faculty of Forestry encourages students to act as problem solvers for various forestry challenges, ranging from forest degradation to climate change. This program aligns with the commitment to sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

One of the main series of activities is the Forestry Generation Showcase, which features student works, applied research, and innovations from various fields of interest. This activity serves as a platform for expression and public communication for young forestry generations in conveying solutions based on scientific knowledge and environmental awareness.
The USU Faculty of Forestry considers that future challenges in the forestry sector require graduates who are not only academically strong but also possess communication skills, cross-sector collaboration abilities, and environmental leadership. Through this activity, students are prepared to actively contribute to forest conservation and climate change mitigation.
The USU Faculty of Forestry reaffirmed its commitment to continuously presenting educational and innovative programs in producing competitive, high-integrity young foresters who are capable of making real contributions to the sustainability of Indonesia’s forests.
