The outing class of SMKS T. Amir Hamzah Indrapura at the Faculty of Forestry USU provided a hands-on learning experience in eco-print pounding techniques in collaboration with Nauli Eco Print, combining creativity, nature, and environmentally friendly principles.

HUMAS FAHUTAN — The Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), hosted an outing class visit from SMKS T. Amir Hamzah Indrapura on Saturday, 10 January 2026. This activity served as an open learning space for students to become familiar with and explore the eco-print pounding technique, a natural dyeing method that utilizes leaves and plants as motifs on fabric.

The outing class was led by a lecturer of the Faculty of Forestry USU, Dr. Iwan Risnasari, S.Hut., M.Si., together with the Nauli Eco Print team, who actively guided the students throughout the practical session. Through this activity, participants were encouraged to understand the potential of natural resources as environmentally friendly materials with creative and economic value.

This activity is expected to broaden students’ knowledge, particularly in the development of fashion production design skills based on sustainability principles, while also strengthening collaboration between vocational secondary education institutions and higher education.

During the activity, students not only received theoretical explanations but were also directly involved in the eco-print production process, starting from leaf selection and motif arrangement to the pounding technique that transfers natural pigments onto fabric. The learning atmosphere was relaxed, interactive, and filled with enthusiasm.
