Ehime University Japan visited USU Faculty of Forestry to discuss research and education collaboration. Offers doctoral programs and joint publication opportunities.

Prof. Hiroki Oue from The United Graduate School of Agriculture, Ehime University, Japan, visited the Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). The visit aimed to explore and propose collaboration opportunities in research and education. The meeting took place on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, in the Faculty of Forestry’s Meeting Room.


Prof. Oue highlighted that tuition and living expenses at Ehime University are among the lowest compared to metropolitan cities and the national average in Japan. A significant number of Indonesian students are currently studying at Ehime University, and many of its alumni are now employed in both the government and private sectors.


The meeting was attended by Arif Nuryawan, Ph.D. (Secretary of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Collaboration), Dr. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad (Vice Dean 1), Dr. Pindi Patana (Vice Dean 2), Prof. Dr. Agus Purwoko (Vice Dean 3), Dr. Ir. Tito Sucipto (Head of the Study Program), Dr. Ir. Nurdin Sulistoyono (Secretary of the Master’s Program), Novita Anggraini, M.Si. (Expert Staff to Vice Dean 3), Dr. Nelly Anna (Head of GKM), and Dr. Ir. Bejo Slamet (Hydrology Expert).


During the visit, Prof. Oue also extended an invitation to the lecturers of the Faculty of Forestry USU to pursue doctoral studies at Ehime University. He further mentioned the potential for collaboration in research, publications, and other relevant fields.
