On Saturday, September 14, 2024, one of the Student Activity Units (UKM) of the USU Faculty of Forestry, Rain Forest, held its 13th Anniversary at Campus 2 USU Kwala Bekala, Deli Serdang. This year's Rain Forest anniversary was also enlivened by various activities, including planting 100 bamboo seedlings in the USU Campus 2 Kwala Bekala area, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. This activity was attended by various important elements, including the Rain Forest UKM advisor Dr. Ir. Luthfi Hakim, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng. and Prof. Mohammad Basyuni, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si, Rain Forest Advisory board, Rain Forest alumni, Rain Forest Executive Board, active members, and invited guests.

The 13th Anniversary event raised the theme “Moving Forward Together in the Activeness of Innovation and Solidarity” with the hope that Rain Forest UKM can become a forum for various Rain Forest components, especially Rain Forest members, to realize their innovations. In addition, with the establishment of Rain Forest, which has entered its 13th year, it is hoped that it will be able to encourage collaboration and increase solidarity among Rain Forest members and active members with alumni in carrying out innovative programs and reflect the commitment of Rain Forest UKM to increase awareness of the importance of environmental conservation.

This activity was supported by various sponsors, including PUI Bambu USU and Patron Satwa Indonesia, both of which are engaged in supporting environmental conservation efforts that are in line with the Rain Forest motto. The activity, which was attended by more than 50 participants, began with remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Rain Forest Trustees and the Head of Rain Forest. Furthermore, 100 bamboo seedlings were planted around the USU Bekala campus 2 area. After the bamboo planting was completed, the activity continued with a video screening of the Rain Forest UKM journey. The excitement of the RF Dies was then continued with a talk show that presented Rahman Abdel Rouf, S.Hut commonly called Bang Abdel. Bang Abdel is one of the alumni and pioneers of Rain Forest Gen-1 (Rimba Collective Project). In his talk show, Bang Abdel said that communication across generations is the most important thing and must be maintained for the progress of a healthy organization. After the talk show was over, tumpeng cutting and group photos were taken to conclude the event. The celebration of the 13th Anniversary of Rain Forest UKM is not only a historic moment for UKM members but also a place to increase the liveliness, innovation, spirit of solidarity, and kinship adopted by Rain Forest UKM, which can make a real contribution to nature conservation. In addition, the anniversary of Rain Forest is also expected to encourage the spirit to increase the pro-active actions of various other environmental activist organizations.
