After successfully achieving international certification SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for the Forest Products Technology Laboratory in April 2024, the USU Faculty of Forestry is now listed as one of the best forestry programs in Indonesia. According to an assessment conducted by the Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2024, USU Forestry is ranked 5th as the best forestry program in Indonesia and 514th in the world.

Improving quality and being the best is the vision and mission that all educational institutions adhere to, and the Faculty of Forestry of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is no exception. In accordance with its vision of "Becoming a leading higher education institution in the development of science and technology in the field of forestry," now the USU Faculty of Forestry is again proving its quality through various achievements achieved day by day.

 

After successfully achieving international certification SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for the Forest Products Technology Laboratory in April 2024, the USU Faculty of Forestry is now listed as one of the best forestry programs in Indonesia. According to an assessment conducted by the Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2024, USU Forestry is ranked 5th as the best forestry program in Indonesia and 514th in the world. Although in 2023 USU Forestry was not listed in the assessment of this institution, in 2023, USU Forestry was listed as the 8th ranked University by Forestry in Indonesia according to EduRank 2023 and ranked 13th University by Agriculture and Forestry in Indonesia according to Times Higher Education (THE) 2023.

 

The survey results released by this classification institution for ranking academic and research institutions have also been published in a number of articles, including by AyoJakarta.com with the title "The Best Forestry Majors in Indonesia Are in These 6 State Universities, Based on SIR 2024 Institution". In detail, there are 6 (six) universities attached to the SIR 2024 assessment, namely:

2. Universitas Brawijaya (UB)
(Indonesia Rank 2; Global Rank 262)

3. Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)
(Indonesia Rank 3; Global Rank 357)

4. Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS)
(Indonesia Rank 4; Global Rank 498)

5. Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU)
(Indonesia Rank 5; Global Rank 514)

6. Universitas Lampung (UNILA)
(Indonesia Rank 6; Global Rank 552)

 

The existence of USU Forestry on the list of the best forestry institutions in Indonesia is a new spirit in improving the quality of the USU Faculty of Forestry. This is also a proud form of appreciation and a driving force towards a better direction and becoming a leading higher education institution in the forestry sector.
