Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is one of Indonesia's higher education institutions currently transforming into a World Class University. In this journey, USU recognizes the vital role of alumni as stakeholders who significantly contribute to key indicators of World Class University (WCU), including Employer Reputation. Alumni provide direct recommendations to employers, showcase strong industry networks, and demonstrate the university’s effectiveness in preparing graduates. Forestry alumni from the Faculty of Forestry at USU are an integral part of this initiative, highlighting their competence and readiness to contribute to the workforce.
The Faculty of Forestry, in support of USU’s transformation towards WCU, organized an Employer Reputation event, inviting alumni who hold Middle Manager positions or higher in government, companies, NGOs, and universities. The Alumni Gathering event was attended by 20 Faculty of Forestry alumni on January 19, 2024, at Grandhika Hotel, Medan.
The Alumni Gathering event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM. The keynote sessions featured two speakers: Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Purwoko presented the topic "USU’s Long-Term Plan," while Alfi Syahrin, S.Hut., from the USU Forestry Alumni Association (IKAHUT), discussed "The Role of IKAHUT Alumni." Both sessions were moderated by Dr. Ir. Alfan Gunawan Ahmad, S.Hut., M.Si.
This Alumni Gathering aims to strengthen the bonds between the Faculty of Forestry at USU and its alumni. The alumni are also expected to contribute to enhancing Employer Reputation, helping USU achieve its goal of becoming a World Class University.
