The USU Faculty of Forestry has once again recorded an achievement through the involvement of its lecturers in the 2025 Indonesian Collaborative Research Grant (RKI). This collaborative research highlights innovations in composite boards made from local bamboo as environmentally friendly materials to support the green economy and the achievement of the SDGs.

Proud news comes from the Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). One of the Forestry USU lecturers has successfully become part of the recipients of the 2025 Indonesian Collaborative Research Grant (RKI) through a collaborative research project involving multiple national universities.

 

The research is entitled “Structural Composite Boards Made from Local Bamboo: Environmentally Friendly Material Innovation Toward a Green Economy and the Achievement of the SDGs”, which focuses on the development of sustainable materials based on local resources as environmentally friendly solutions.

 

The research team is led by Atmawia Darwis (Institut Teknologi Bandung), with team members from various universities, namely Syahidah (Universitas Hasanuddin), Tekat Dwi Cahyono (Universitas Darussalam Ambon), and Apri Heri Iswanto (Universitas Sumatera Utara).

 

This collaboration represents a tangible commitment of academics to encouraging innovation, strengthening national research, and enhancing the contribution of higher education institutions to sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
