Exciting News from the Forestry Study Program at Universitas Sumatera Utara!
Congratulations to the lecturers of the Forestry Study Program, Faculty of Forestry, Universitas Sumatera Utara, for being awarded the 2025 Indonesian Collaborative Research Grant (Riset Kolaborasi Indonesia – RKI)!
Some of our lecturers participated as hosts, while others joined as collaborators in these outstanding research initiatives. From the Forestry Study Program at Universitas Sumatera Utara alone, four research proposals were selected out of a total of 206 proposals funded nationwide. At the university level, Universitas Sumatera Utara had 28 successful proposals—meaning the Forestry Study Program contributed to 14.3% of USU’s success rate and 1.9% nationally. What an impressive achievement!

Prof. Muhammad Basyuni, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D. – as the host researcher, collaborating with King Saud University, University of the Philippines, and Universitas Hasanuddin.
Research title: Investigation of Biomass, Carbon Stock, and Other Ecosystem Services in Mangrove Forests and Their Conversion.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM. – as the host researcher, collaborating with Universitas Gadjah Mada and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
Research title: Development of Laminated Bamboo as Building Material to Support Indonesia’s Asta Cita Program.

Dr. Achmad Siddik Thoha, S.Hut., M.Si. – as a collaborator, with Universitas Brawijaya as host and Universitas Negeri Malang as partner.
Research title: Integration of Geoscience Studies for Disaster Mitigation and Optimization of Geotourism Potential (Case Study: Malang and North Sumatra).

Dr. Ir. Samsuri, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng. – as a collaborator, with Universitas Hasanuddin as host and Universitas Negeri Malang as partner.
Research title: Formulation and Mapping of Ecosystem Sensitivity Index Standards (Scale) in Watershed Areas.
