The World Meteorological Day series featured tree planting, a talk show, and the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS). Additionally, the Climate Change and Disaster Mitigation Study Center of the Faculty of Forestry USU was officially launched.
The talk show featured speakers including Dr. Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan (Deputy for Climatology at BMKG), Dr. Achmad Siddik Thoha, S.Hut., M.Si. (Lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry USU), and Paris Sembiring (Owner of Bank Pohon and Founder of Sekolah Adiwiyata). The event was officially opened by Dr. Ir. Rudi Hartono, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry USU, alongside Dr. Hendro Nugroho, S.T., M.T., Head of BBMKG Region I.
The 74th World Meteorological Day invited various stakeholders, including PT KAI, Universitas Negeri Medan, Universitas Satya Terra Bhinneka, Universitas Sari Mutiara Indonesia, and the media. Through this event, it is hoped that awareness will be raised regarding the importance of protecting and preserving the environment, including forests, as part of efforts to mitigate global climate change.
